A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT

Relating to Lee County; to provide for the speed limit and the setting of speed limits on county roads in a platted subdivision or development in the unincorporated areas of the county; and to specify that violations would be subject to existing penalties provided by law.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

Section 1. In Lee County, in the unincorporated areas of the county, within a platted residential subdivision, a platted manufactured home community whether the lots are rented or sold, a platted condominium development, or any other platted subdivision or development subject to the approval or development control by the Lee County Commission where interior road improvements are or have been required, the speed limit on any county road or other road within the subdivision or development shall be 25 miles per hour unless a different speed limit is set based on engineering design or an engineering study approved by the Lee County Engineer. Any violation of any speed limit set pursuant to this act shall be a traffic offense subject to penalties in the same manner as otherwise provided by law.

Section 2. This act shall become effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
