SYNOPSIS: This bill would provide for an additional annual fee of twenty-five cents for the issuance of distinctive firefighter motor vehicle license plates issued pursuant to Sections 32-6-271 and 32-6-280, Code of Alabama 1975.

This bill would provide that all fees collected pursuant to this act would be deposited into a fund managed by the Alabama Joint Fire Council and used for the purpose of expanding and maintaining the Alabama Firefighter Memorial located in Tuscaloosa.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT

Relating to distinctive firefighter motor vehicle license plates; to provide for an additional annual fee of twenty-five cents; and to provide for the disposition of the fees.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

Section 1. In addition to any other fees provided for by law, an additional annual fee of twenty-five cents ($.25) is added to the cost of distinctive firefighter motor vehicle license plates issued pursuant to Sections 32-6-271 and 32-6-280, Code of Alabama 1975. The fees collected pursuant to this section shall be deposited into a fund managed by the Alabama Joint Fire Council and used for the purpose of expanding and maintaining the Alabama Firefighter Memorial located in Tuscaloosa.

Section 2. This act shall become effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
