SYNOPSIS: This bill makes an appropriation of $5,000,000 from the Education Trust Fund to the Alabama Community College System for the purpose of providing student scholarships in career-technical dual enrollment programs, for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2016.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT

To make an appropriation of $5,000,000 from the Education Trust Fund to the Alabama Community College System for the purpose of providing student scholarships in career-technical dual enrollment programs, for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2016.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

Section 1. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $5,000,000 from the Education Trust Fund to the Alabama Community College System for the purpose of providing student scholarships in career-technical dual enrollment programs, for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2016.

Section 2. The above appropriation is made for the support of student scholarships for career-technical dual enrollment programs that are designed or implemented by the Chancellor of the Department of Postsecondary Education and offered at Alabama Community College System institutions. The Chancellor of the Department of Postsecondary Education shall ensure that the above appropriation for student scholarships is allocated to students in a manner consistent with addressing the identified needs in each workforce regions regarding career-technical dual enrollment programs.

Section 3. This act shall become effective October 1, 2015.
